death of a salesman
Saturday, January 26, 2008 / 10:36 PM

remember i was telling you (jing) that being too cute/pretty/handsome/hot/in general all things beautiful with regards to outward appearances is a bad thing because then you would not have to work hard for the things you want. and you said i was 'poisoned by southpark' and i agreed that it was from that episode* but there was something else?

HERE it is, Death of a Salesman. I was kidding you not. HAH. ok.

A Plot Synopsis as cited from wiki.
The American Dream
The depths of the problem are gradually revealed. Willy's emphasis on being well-liked stems from a belief that it will bring him to perfect success—not a harmful dream in itself, except that he clings to this idea as if it is a life-preserver, refusing to give it up. In high school, his boys were not only well-liked but quite handsome, and as far as Willy is concerned, that's all anyone needs. He pitches this idea to his sons so effectively that they believe opportunity will fall into their laps. (In this way, Biff and Happy can be considered forerunners to the culture of entitlement.)

I think the double entry accounting system is the world's biggest tautology. HAH.

P.S. haha lin! this is for you! hope it's not too contrived!

Parkour

I just learnt that this art/discipline/sport(?) was inspired by African indigenous tribesmen escaping from volcanic eruptions and other life-threatening events. It was further developed and popularised by a Georges HĂ©bert from France.

Amazingly, it shows how humans can react in the extreme conditions requiring flight, but curiously, it seems really animal to me. This will make Charles Darwin happy, or not? (Happy because we really might have animal qualities; Not happy because we're de-evolving.)
